Services are tailored to meet each individual’s needs. Following an initial free consultation, the student and family will decide what type of assistance best suits their respective interests.

High School - Consulting Services

  • Timelines and coaching, starting at any point in high school and as early as freshman year. Goal setting, interest inventories, course selection, activity considerations are just some of the personalized topics that are considered.
  • Development of college lists to reflect each student’s academic and personal interests, with respect to family financial needs.
  • Writing preparation, to include concept development, multiple draft feedback and completion of all personal and supplemental statements – all required written components of college applications.
  • Résumé development and writing, using language critical to college admissions and job applications.
  • Interview preparation, to include mock interviews and conversations specific to each college or job under consideration.

College, Graduate, and Post Graduate – Consulting Services

  • Résumé development, including writing of personal vision or objective statements, tailored to a range of job or internship sectors.
  • Interview preparation, including phone, Skype and in-person sessions. Attire, physical demeanor, voice inflection and verbal responses are key to this process.
  • Assistance with all written communication related to job search, including cover letters, initial and follow-up emails, and thank you messages.
  • Guidance with applications to graduate school, including all essays and statements of purpose.
  • Experience advising for range of programs, including business school, law school, and medical school.

Unique to Beth

  • It is unusual to find a college consultant with Beth’s background, which includes work in a college admissions office, making final application decisions, and work at the high school level in college access. She thus has a unique lens, understanding the admissions process from both the college and the student perspectives.
  • Beth’s work in admissions at one of the most prestigious schools of journalism has provided her with a unique level of expertise, relative to communication required for college applications. Having reviewed written work from some of the nation’s top student writers, Beth has developed a keen sense for helping students craft essays that genuinely reflect their individual character. She helps applicants to discover their respective voices.
  • Beth’s long-term relationships with students, from high school counseling through job and/or graduate school application, speaks to the level of commitment and trust she maintains.
  • Beth believes that counseling services should be affordable for all families. Beth’s rates are project-based, not hourly, as she does not want students to censor themselves or worry about the number of times they contact her.
  • As a parent of three children, two of whom have graduated from college and one who is currently in graduate school, Beth is sensitive to the stress that is associated with the college application process. She thus takes a very positive personalized approach when working with students.
